Hello All

I've been reading up about how oil prices are going up and that therefore prices of everything is and will continue too. I had to buy flour yesterday and the whole wheat was up to $16! from $9....but it is still cheaper to bake good bread then to buy the good healthy stuff!

I was reading a good article on how we need to make our household more self sufficient. So I think it is time for me to look into making more of the foods that we eat and buy less pre-made.

I only wish we could have chickens! we go through 18 eggs a week!

any other ideas?

I work in a grocery store and can't believe how much stuff has gone up. I was thinking we will need to be returning to the old ways of feeding our families if we want to be able to survive financially.
I think I mentioned this book to you before: "Square foot gardening" He talks about how we could grow everything we need in a more careful and organized way. Haven't fully put it to the test yet but will one day.
Also there is a woman in the states who uses cold frames all winter and grows her lettuce etc. in them year round and there was a picture of her in a foot of snow with a cold frame full of lettuce. I can't think where I saw it 'cept maybe it was on the internet and I got the link from a frugal newsletter I receive.
